Greens Dark Ale – Gluten Free Beer

The Verdict

Green’s Beers very kindly sent us a selection of their beers to sample, we tried this dark ale immediately after trying their blond ale.

This Dark Ale had an unusual aroma, it didn’t smell at all like beer, however it looked like a typical dark brown beer.  The head on the dark ale isn’t as tight and creamy as the head on the blond ale.

It is a sweet tasting beer which is distinctly Belgian in origin but lacks the flavour of dubbel beers.  The label says “dark chocolate”, “burnt toffee complex” both of which are recognisable.  Slightly lacking in flavour but this is probably due to the fact that we drank the beer at fridge temperature and not the recommended cellar temperature.
