The Verdict

The whole family put this Rice Dream Original Rice Drink to the test.

We tried the 1l carton. We drank some of the rice drink chilled and also tried it in coffee and tea.

The Rice Dream Drink had the same consistency as skimmed milk, it was a lot more watery than I expected.

This product review resulted in very mixed verdicts.

My husband thought it tasted nice, and he said that he would take this over skimmed milk any day.

I really disliked it, I didn’t like the taste of it at all. I thought that it tasted weird, both really sweet and sickly and bland at the same time. It left me with an unpleasant after-taste which strangely reminded me of the smell of plasticine and felt quite sick after drinking it.

My two lactose intolerant daughter’s really liked this, my daughter who doesn’t suffer from lactose intolerance wasn’t keen on this.

After drinking some of the chilled Rice Dream Drink on it’s own we then made a cup of tea and a cup of coffee and replaced our usual milk with Rice Dream. We thought that it was more successful in the coffee than in the tea. We decided that we would rather drink the tea black or with lemon than with the Rice Dream in it. The coffee tasted very similar to coffee from a vending machine or coffee that has cremora in it, it was ok.

This was definitely preferred by the lactose intolerants of the family and I have since bought this again at my eldest daughter’s request.
