The Verdict

The first thing that needs to be said about the products I ordered from Freedom Deli is about the packaging and delivery.  To say that I was  impressed is a bit of an understatement; the products arrived by courier and were inside large polystyrene boxes, the products inside were sandwiched between frozen ice sheets.  I immediately popped the Cheese & Spinach Rolls into the freezer, ready to be used at a later date.

It can’t have been more than a couple of days before temptation got the better of me and I decided to give the Cheese & Spinach Rolls a try.  All I had to do was remove the rolls from their packaging, put them on a tray and bake them from frozen in a preheated oven for 15-20mins.

I baked both packs so there were four of the Cheese & Spinach Rolls in total.  The rolls are approx 5 inches in length.  My daughter and I had them for lunch accompanied with some red onion chutney.  The pastry was lovely, it was light and soft  without being soggy and also had a really nice crispy outside to it.  The filling was oozing with melted Lancashire cheese which blended perfectly with the spinach leaves.  They were absolutely delicious and extremely filling, I had served two each for my daughter and I, we were really struggling once we started on our second ones but because they were so moreish we kept on going.  We were so stuffed after eating them that we only needed a snack at dinner time as we were still full.  Two of the Cheese & Spinach rolls with vegetable accompaniments would make a substantial evening meal even for the hungriest of people. One roll would’ve been perfectly adequate for lunch – we were a bit niaive (and a bit greedy!).

The Cheese & Spinach rolls cost £2.99 for a pack of 2.  Delivery charges are as follows:- For all orders under £15.00, it’s £6.95. For orders over £15.00 but less than £25.00 it is £3.00. Finally, for orders over £25.00 is free standard delivery.  I received my order two days after placing it.
