These Freefrom Tarts are Gluten Free, Wheat Free and Dairy Free. We gave these allergy friendly tarts our “Tried & Tested” treatment.
The packaging describes these as “Delicious sweet shortcrust pastry with a sticky syrup and treacle filling. Made in a dedicated gluten, wheat & dairy free bakery”.

Pastry Case: Brown Rice Flour, Tapioca Flour, Margarine (Palm Oil, Rapeseed Oil, Water, Emulsifier: Mono- and digylycerides of Fatty Acids), Sugar, Ground Almonds, Salt, Thickener: Xanthum gum.
Filling: Syrup Sauce (44%) (partially inverted Sugar Syrup, Water, Acidity Regulator: Citric Acid; Gelling Agent: Pectin; Flavouring), Sugar, Margarine (Palm Oil, Rapeseed Oil, Water, Emulsifier: Mono- and digylycerides of Fatty Acids), Egg, Brown Rice Flour, Tapioca Flour, Humectant (Glucose Syrup, Water, Acetic Acid), Acidifier: Ascorbic Acid; Preservative: Potassium Sorbate, Calcium Propionate; Black Treacle (1%)
The whole family put these Allergy Friendly Treacle Tarts to the test.
The treacle filling was rich and sweet but not too sickly.
The pastry case had a lovely creamy texture and the flavour of the ground almonds faintly cut through. I dislike almonds immensely but the taste wasn’t so overpowering as to spoil the tart for me.
Overall the tarts were a success, they were surprisingly filling and we all agreed that none of us could have managed a second one. My six year old daughter especially liked the pastry.
