M&S Sticky Chilli Chicken - Dairy Free Ready Meal

First Impression

I was in Marks & Spencer looking for a dairy free ready meal when I spotted this Sticky Chilli Chicken. I also bought a M&S Crispy Lemon Chicken – Dairy Free takeaway main.  I wanted something for a quick meal, I usually struggle to find any pre-prepared meals as I can’t eat garlic, this has been made even more difficult since my husband had to remove dairy from his diet so looking for something that is free from both can be a challenge.

Verdict

This meal consisted of a sweet chilli sauce and five pieces of battered chicken breast.  Preparation and cooking couldn’t have been any quicker or simpler as it  just involved putting the chicken pieces onto a baking tray and popping into the oven for 20 mins.  You could either cook the sauce  in a saucepan on the hob or microwave it.

I served this sticky chilli chicken with boiled rice.  There was an ample amount of chicken for two people, the batter had are really nice crisp texture.  The sweet chilli sauce tasted lovely, it was more sweet than spicy and only had a slight kick to it.

The cooking instructions on this meal have changed since I last bought it.  Previously, the sauce was poured over the chicken and cooked in the oven, which made the sauce stickier than it is now, but there was never enough sauce and the meal tended to be a bit dry.  This new way of cooking the sauce meant there was more of it, which was definitely an improvement.   An excellent quality meal from M&S.

We really enjoyed this and will definitely be having it again.

Sometimes you just can’t be bothered to prepare a meal from scratch and this is the perfect solution to that.

This meal isn’t labelled as Dairy Free or Free From – maybe M&S are missing out on a potential marketing opportunity here.
