Clinique – Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (Oil Free Moisturiser)

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel - Oil Free Moisturiser

The following beauty product review is for Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.

I have extremely sensitive skin, and over the years must have tried dozens of different skin care products from all different price points. I have combination skin so my skin isn’t particularly greasy but if I wear any creams or lotions on my face that are rich, thick, heavy, greasy or perfumed then my skin feels and looks absolutely awful. Shortly after applying something to my face that doesn’t suit me it begins to feel like I have got something literally crawling under my skin. The next day I will then have really gross pimples/pustules on my face (possibly a little too much info!)

Manufactured By: Clinique

According to Clinique, “The oil-free moisture “drink” developed by Clinique’s dermatologists to maintain optimal moisture balance for skins comfortable in the cheeks but oily in the T-zone or oily all over. Oil-free formula softens, smooths, improves“.

The packaging says that it is for Combination Oily to Oily Skin. It is clinically formulated and allergy tested. It is also 100% fragrance free.

Works to improve skin’s texture and condition after cleansing and clarifying. Oil-Free.

Apply twice a day to face and throat all over or where needed.

The product size comes in 50ml and 125ml.

We have also reviewed a number of other skin care products which you may like to read about in our “Cosmetics & Skin Care” category.

Available as:

50ml tube

125ml with a pump (this it the one shown in the photo above)

The Verdict

I absolutely love this gel. I think, that I would even, go so far as to say that this is my favourite moisturiser EVER.

This is oil free, so it is totally non-greasy. It is 100% Fragrance Free, so is non perfumed. Your face feels wonderful when you apply it as it really cools and soothes your skin. The consistency is amazing, it is so light and refreshing and really easily absorbed so you don’t have to wait too long before applying your make-up. Once applied it does not feel greasy, sticky or heavy at all.

I have to say that I am a girl who likes a bit of a gimmick, so every so often when a new product is launched I will give it a try, but I always end up going back to this as I have yet to come across anything else that can beat it. I cannot praise this moisturiser highly enough, it is worth absolutely every penny. Love it!

Just a couple of points to note:

  1. It states above to use after cleansing and clarifying – I just cleanse my skin, I don’t clarify (I’m always in a hurry).
  2. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion is almost identically packaged to the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel that this review is for. Check out the 2 links and see if you can spot the difference? I once slipped up and purchased the Lotion instead of the Gel and when buying the 125ml bottle it is rather an expensive error to make – so be warned and don’t make the same mistake as I did!

I have recommended this to a number of friends who also have sensitive skin and they have very happily reported back to me that they love it too!

Comments

  1. Sesame oil is an ingredient in this lotion, so potentially not safe for those with sesame allergies, like myself. I used this for a while and over time I was developing more and more outbreaks, then I stopped using it and later figured out what the problem was.
I have read that a lot of Clinique makeup has sesame oil in it.

    • Thanks for pointing this out and for taking the time to comment. This highlights the importance of always double checking the ingredients in food and any products you apply to yourself to ensure that they are suitable for your particular allergy before using them. Even when you are a regular user of a product you can be still caught out with a slight change in ingredients.
